Plant-Sumner House at Heritage Village in Largo, Florida

Plant-Sumner House at Heritage Village in Largo, Florida

Built in 1896 by the Henry Plant Company while the Belleview-Biltmore Hotel was under construction, this seven-room home had all the modern conveniences of the late 19th century: electricity, running water, and indoor plumbing. In 1912, the Reverend Robert Sumner purchased the home for his family. A Methodist minister and dairy farmer, Sumner also served for a time as postmaster of the Town of Belleair. In 1976, this became the first structure to be moved to Heritage Village and was opened to the public in September of 1977. Source: http://www.pinellascounty.org/heritage/plant.htm
